Gurgaon: A six-year-old girl died after being hit by a bus while crossing a road in Faridabad’s Palla area on Saturday afternoon. An FIR has been registered against the bus driver, who is absconding.The accident occurred around 2pm. Kavya, an LKG student and a resident of Saraswati Colony, was crossing the road with her mother while on their way to a relative’s house when she was hit by the bus.Police said the child sustained critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital before being referred to a hospital in Delhi, where she succumbed to her injuries. An officer said, “The bus driver took her to the hospital and then to Delhi. However, after that, he went missing.”Eyewitnesses alleged that the driver was using a mobile phone while driving and failed to notice the child crossing the road. Police said the allegation is being examined.The driver has been identified as Deepak, a native of Firozabad in UP, who was residing in the Palla area. Police said he was driving a traveller bus engaged by a private company to transport employees, and staff members were present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.The girl’s body was brought to Faridabad Civil Hospital, where an autopsy was conducted on Sunday. It was later handed over to the family.The girl’s family members gathered at the police station, demanding action against the driver. A senior police officer said an FIR has been registered on the family’s complaint and further legal action will be taken based on the investigation.
