Building residents alleged that the elevator had been facing technical problems for about seven months
Mumbai: A 12-year-old boy died after allegedly falling into an elevator shaft from the 10th floor of an SRA building in Nehru Nagar on Monday.Residents of Shamim Tower told police that the boy, who was playing hide-and-seek with other children, was hiding near the elevator area and was leaning against the doors when they suddenly opened, causing him to fall to his death from the 10th floor to the third floor.Residents of the building alleged that the elevator had been facing technical problems for about seven months. “There has been a persistent issue with the elevator; it’s been going on for about seven months. The power was out on our floor, so it was dark,” a resident said.Nehru Nagar police have registered an accidental death report.
