VC seeks reply from Gaya College principal over absence during inspection

Gaya: Magadh University acting vice-chancellor Dilip Kumar Keshari has sought an explanation from Gaya College principal Satish Singh Chandra after a surprise inspection uncovered several instances of alleged administrative and academic irregularities.The acting VC, along with registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam, conducted a surprise inspection at Gaya College on Saturday, during which the principal was found absent without prior intimation. The inspection team also found the Sanskrit and Buddhist studies departments locked, while student attendance in the geography, political science and several other departments was as low as 1-2%.Keshari sought explanations from the principal and the teachers concerned, citing serious lapses in academic discipline.

On July 3, assistant professor of Sanskrit Shivaji Pandey was transferred following a dispute with fellow faculty member Sangeeta Arya, who is now the only serving teacher in the Sanskrit department. According to university officials, similar conditions have persisted in several departments over the past few days.Keshari said, “Further action against the principal and other teachers will be decided after reviewing the explanations submitted by them. Under no circumstances will any compromise be made on academic or administrative discipline.”Keshari and registrar Mangalam said the university administration was committed to removing every obstacle affecting Magadh University’s academic progress. They asserted that negligence would not be tolerated.
