Dimapur: Nagaland’s directorate of health & family welfare (DHFW), through the drugs control administration, on Tuesday launched the Narcotic & Psychotropic Online Monitoring and Auditing System (NPOMAS) at the drugs control administration conference hall in Kohima.The digital platform, designed to modernise the monitoring and management of narcotic and psychotropic substances, was launched during the valedictory programme of a month-long induction training for newly recruited drugs control officers.NPOMAS will enable real-time stock tracking, digital record-keeping and stronger oversight of prescriptions and drug distribution. The system is expected to improve transparency, accountability and regulatory efficiency while providing centralised access to authorised departmental officers for monitoring and enforcement.Officials said the initiative reflects the department’s push to use technology to strengthen regulatory governance and control of narcotic and psychotropic substances. The platform is also expected to support better coordination among enforcement agencies and enable evidence-based decisions through accurate, timely data.Addressing the programme as special guest, DHFW principal director Mereninla Senlem said the event marked the successful completion of an induction training designed to equip new drugs control officers with the knowledge, skills and professional values required for effective enforcement and public service.The training covered technical, legal, ethical and administrative aspects of drug regulation, with the aim of bridging academic learning and field realities and preparing officers to discharge their duties with confidence and professionalism.
