Born on 10th June 1992 in France, Julie Tétart started playing basketball at just five years old.Interestingly, for over two decades Julie Tétart competed in men’s regional leagues in France until things changed in 2021.Back in October 2021, Julie Tétart came out publicly as a trangender woman as it sparked shockwaves across communities.Due to the mixed reactions, Julie Tétart decided to step away from competing in national sports for three years.Later in 2024, Julie Tétart decided to undergo gender reaffirming surgery and hormone replacement therapy before she decided to return to her basketball career.In an interview with French news outlet RMC Sports, Julie Tétart said, “When I came back, I was told ‘you have basketball skills but physically you’re out of shape and you don’t know how to play.’ I stopped for several years and I had to work a lot,”Julie Tétart added, “It’s not my goal to be a symbol, but if I can help, all the better..My Instagram is still public, by the way.
