An 18-year-old youth drowned in the Lower Lake near Neelam Park in Jehangirabad on Saturday afternoon after allegedly slipping into the water. The victim did not know how to swim, police said.The deceased was identified as Anas Qureshi, 18, son of Sohail Qureshi, a resident of Jogipura in Jehangirabad. Police said Anas, a school dropout, had gone to Neelam Park with his mother and other family members.Around 2pm, Anas reportedly went near the lake to wash his hands when he lost balance and fell into the water. His mother raised an alarm, following which local residents rushed to help and pulled him out of the lake. He was immediately taken to Hamidia Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
