Navi Mumbai: A day after a four-month-old video showing two rats roaming inside a quick commerce store in Ghansoli went viral, the sanitary inspector of NMMC’s licensing department visited the store on Monday morning to ascertain the facts.Someshwar Pathak, Sanitary Inspector of NMMC said, “When I inquired with the store manager about the viral video clip, he told me that it was a 4-month-old incident and claimed that the rats were deliberately released in the store premises by a staff member, who was terminated from the job for indiscipline, to defame the store. Our team inspected the entire store premises to check for rodents, and it was concluded that the store’s hygiene was properly maintained by routine pest control after the incident. However, we have informed the Thane FDA official about the viral video clip and the FDA inspection will also be done on Tuesday. The claim by the store in charge alleging the mischief was played by the terminated staff by releasing the rats inside the store, after which the rats even littered pups, with the intention to defame the store, will be ascertained by FDA officials.”In the two-minute video, a staff member at the store was seen catching one rat found hidden in the stock of milk products and another rat hidden in a basket of watermelons, with one watermelon already nibbled by the rat. Rat pups were found in two baskets, one of them containing snacks.
