Sasaram: RJD working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday met the family of Chandeshwar Chaudhary, who was allegedly killed in Jogiya village of Rohtas district by a local landlord following a dispute over wages.Tejashwi met Chaudhary’s wife and children, offered condolences and assured them of his support. Police have arrested the accused, Ajit Tiwari.Tejashwi spoke to the Rohtas SP and sought a fair investigation, strict legal action against those found guilty and adequate security for the victim’s family, which he said had been receiving threats.Speaking to reporters, Tejashwi described the incident as “extremely unfortunate” and alleged it reflected a feudal mindset. He claimed Tiwari was a habitual offender who had previously been jailed.“Three generations of the victim’s family had been working for the accused’s family. They were allegedly made to work without being paid and were exploited. The family had gone to demand their rightful wages when the incident occurred,” Tejashwi said.Chaudhary’s daughter, Anjani Kumari, alleged her father and grandfather had worked for Tiwari’s family, while her elder brother was also associated with them.“My brother recently started working for someone else. Naturally, anyone would prefer to work where they are paid more. The country is free, but Ajit Tiwari kept us like slaves. My father was killed amid this dispute,” she alleged. The killing took place on Wednesday in Jogiya village under Dinara police station. Chaudhary was allegedly called to Tiwari’s dalan before being shot. His body was thrown into a canal and recovered the next day by an SDRF team. Police are investigating the killing and subsequent violence.
