Lucknow: Thakurganj police have on Tuesday registered an FIR against a man on charges of sexual exploitation, attempted rape of a minor and alleged pressure to convert religion.The accused, identified as Naushad Ali of Malhpur, New Haiderganj, is absconding, police said.According to the complainant, who runs a private hospital in the Talkatora area, Naushad came into contact with her in Dec 2024. The woman, whose husband had died earlier, alleged that Naushad established a relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. She said that after she was diagnosed with cancer in Jun 2025, he distanced himself. When she pressed him on marriage, he allegedly asked her to convert her religion.The complainant alleged that Naushad also developed contact with her married elder daughter, luring her with promises of employment and a better life in Dubai. She accused him of sexually exploiting her daughter and pressuring her to convert. The FIR also alleges that he took the woman to mosques and shrines and introduced her to clerics to influence her religious beliefs.The woman has also accused the man of inappropriate behaviour towards her 15-year-old daughter. She alleged that on Jan 25, he attempted to sexually assault her and pressured her to marry a person belonging to his faith.Thakurganj SHO Omveer Singh Chauhan said an FIR has been registered under multiple sections related to sexual offences, attempted assault and alleged religious conversion. An investigation is underway and police teams are searching for the accused.
