Suvinder Vicky is gearing up for the release of ‘Awarapan 2’, the upcoming action thriller starring Emraan Hashmi. The actor has been part of several contrasting projects in recent years. He now hopes the film will help him secure more opportunities in mainstream Hindi cinema. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, ‘Awarapan 2’ gives Suvinder Vicky another opportunity to explore a different kind of character. The actor also sees the film as a departure from some of his earlier work. Suvinder Vicky described his varied filmography in an interview with Mid Day using a humorous comparison. “I am that halwai ki dukan where you’ll get a variety of sweets (I’m like a sweet shop where you’ll find a wide variety of treats),” chuckled the actor.
Suvinder Vicky wants to romance on screen
The actor said the musical and romantic aspects of ‘Awarapan 2’ were among the factors that attracted him to the project. He noted that several of his previous characters dealt with the deaths of their wives. “I haven’t done a musical before. In every project, they put a garland over my character’s wife’s picture [implying she has passed away]. Even I want to romance on screen. Even though Emraan will be doing all of this here, I am at least part of it,” he said in an interview with the portal. For Suvinder Vicky, the movie offered an opportunity to participate in a more mainstream story. He is also excited about being part of a project where romance and music form an important part of the narrative.
‘Awarapan 2’ allowed Suvinder Vicky to be himself
Another reason Suvinder Vicky chose the project was the way his character would appear on screen. Unlike several of his previous roles, the actor did not need to undergo an elaborate transformation for ‘Awarapan 2’. “I realised that in this film, I would be seen as Suvinder Vicky. I have donned different looks for my previous characters; I have spent two hours for hair and make-up on those projects. I don’t have much patience for it because the longer the process goes, the more I start getting out of my character’s zone. This film gave me a chance to be seen as who I am. It didn’t require any mental burden to play the role.” The actor said extensive preparation can sometimes make it harder for him to remain connected with his character. The relatively straightforward process on ‘Awarapan 2’ therefore made the experience more comfortable.
