Bengaluru: A dispute over a stray dog being pelted with stones escalated into a heated confrontation and alleged assault on a 27-year-old woman in Domlur on Aug 10.According to a complaint filed by Sanjana (name changed), the incident occurred around 7.40pm when she was standing outside her house in Domlur I Stage and speaking to a neighbour. They noticed a person deliberately throwing stones at a stray dog on the street. When they questioned him, the dog and two others barked and ran towards a girl standing outside a nearby house, frightening her and making her cry.Even as Sanjana rushed towards the child, her family members came out of the house. At this point, another resident allegedly shouted twice, “Sampeyyanda kukkal nee” (‘kill the dogs’ in Telugu), allegedly inciting those present. Following the provocation, two members of the girl’s family picked up stones and chased the dogs away.The situation then allegedly turned into a confrontation with Sanjana. She claimed that 4-5 members of the family surrounded her and argued with her. An elderly man allegedly approached her, blocked her way, and verbally abused her despite her repeatedly asking him to maintain distance. The man allegedly pushed her hard, after which she immediately called the police helpline.Based on her complaint, police registered a case for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint.
