Surat: A dispute between two BJP municipal councillors from Ward 5 is said to have been resolved, with party leaders saying a compromise was reached at a meeting on Thursday night.According to the BJP, the settlement was finalised in the presence of Gujarat BJP general secretary and Surat in-charge Prashant Korat. Korat was in the city for a party programme when the discussions were held.After the compromise was announced, media personnel approached Korat for a reaction, but he declined to comment.The BJP made the announcement through its official social media page, sharing photographs of Korat with the Ward 5 representatives Jayshree Vora, Mahendra Desai and Vora’s husband Manhar. The post described the outcome as a “pleasant resolution” achieved through dialogue, coordination and organisational spirit.The party said that the disagreement involving Ward 5 corporators Desai and Vora, along with her husband Manhar, had ended in an amicable manner at the BJP Surat Mahanagar office, in Korat’s special presence.The post further asserted that within the BJP organisation, mutual trust, communication and unity among workers and elected representatives are paramount. It added that the party remains committed to maintaining organisational traditions and, with everyone’s cooperation, accelerating work in the public interest.When contacted, Manhar said, “The party leaders heard us and the dispute has ended after discussion.” Despite several attempts, Desai was not available for comment.Vora and Manhar had alleged that they were attacked by Desai during a meeting at the office of BJP’s Surat North MLA Kanti Balar on Aug 3. A written complaint was submitted on Wednesday to BJP leaders. They alleged that Desai, the chairperson of the town planning committee, assaulted them during the meeting, causing injuries. According to the complaint, the couple suffered fractures to a thumb and a finger. Manhar alleged that Desai attacked him, claiming that he named Desai in a complaint about unauthorised construction and its demolition.
