Josh Radnor, who was known for leading the hit show ‘How I Met Your Mother’ at the height of his career, recently opened up about how life has been for him all these years. During his latest appearance, after being asked about his fellow cast members and whether he is still close with them, the actor revealed that the group is no longer as close as they used to be. Here is everything Radnor shared about his connection with the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ cast.
Josh Radnor talks about not being close with the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ cast
Radnor candidly revealed that the main cast of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ is no longer as close as they used to be. While appearing on an episode of the ‘Half the Picture’ podcast, the beloved actor, known for playing Ted Mosby, shared how the group had naturally fallen out of touch over the years. He shared, “I don’t mean that in any dramatic way. We had Neil on the podcast, and he and I had a really interesting conversation about some of the tension we had on set that was fascinating and kind of healing.” Radnor added, “Jason and I send each other texts every once in a while when something like that reminds us of something funny on set, but I haven’t seen him in a really long time. Cobie we had on the [podcast] twice, so I’ve seen her mostly on Zoom. And I have love for all these people.” He also shared that while Hannigan attended his wedding in 2024, the two have not been able to meet since then.
Josh Radnor compares the situation to college
Talking about the entire situation, the ‘Liberal Arts’ actor related the entire thing to college life and how everyone moves on after one point. “It’s like college, where you have this very intense time together and you think you’re going to be—you can’t imagine not seeing each other every day ‘cause you’ve seen each other every day for so long, and then it just disperses, and you go out and live your life,” he shared. He also commented on how fans wish the group remained “best friends” through everything since, at the core, the show was about friendships and lifelong bonds. He added, “People really want to believe that I and Neil and Jason are hitting bars in New York City together. They really want to believe that.”He added that rather than friends, he would like to call the stars from ‘How I Met Your Mother’ his family because that is something you do not get to choose, similarly to being cast in the show. “And family dynamics come out to play when you’re in an environment like that for so long. But you also have love that is quite deep and rich and probably everlasting. But it’s not an active love,” he commented.‘How I Met Your Mother’ aired from September 19, 2005, and ended on March 31, 2014. It ran for nine seasons with a total of 208 episodes. A spin-off series starring Hilary Duff, titled ‘How I Met Your Father,’ was released on January 18, 2022, and ended on July 11, 2023. The show ran for two seasons before being cancelled.
