Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad was taken to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna on Friday after developing eye-related complications and other health issues. He was discharged after being kept under observation for more than two hours.Lalu was accompanied by his daughter Misa Bharti, son Tej Pratap and several party colleagues and workers.According to Dr Vibhuti P Sinha, head of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and deputy director of IGIMS, Lalu had initially visited the hospital for treatment related to an eye ailment. However, routine examinations raised concerns during his cardiac evaluation.“There was a specific finding during his cardiac evaluation. Consequently, he was placed under close observation for two hours before being safely released,” Dr Sinha said, adding that his vital parameters remained stable.Party sources said Lalu would soon travel to AIIMS, New Delhi, for a routine check-up. The 78-year-old has been battling multiple health issues for several years.In Dec last year, he underwent cataract and retinal surgery at a private hospital in New Delhi. He had also travelled to Singapore in May for a follow-up examination related to his kidney transplant in 2022.
