A video of the emotional protest has gone viral on social media, leaving viewers touched by the unusual display of affection between students and their teacher.

The teacher was scheduled to leave the school following a transfer order. But when the students realised that he was actually going to leave, they gathered around him. The viral video shows several students crying and holding on to their teacher. Some appear to plead with him not to go, while others surround him as he tries to move towards the exit.The situation became even more emotional when a few students ran towards the school gates, closed them from inside and staged a sit-in protest. A similar incident happened in Amravati earlier this year
This is not the first time students in Amravati have protested against a teacher’s transfer. Earlier this year, students reportedly launched a hunger strike after their beloved teacher, Sunil Rathod, was transferred. According to Asianetnews, several students stopped eating and sat outside the Zilla Parishad office, demanding that the transfer order be revoked.

The Amravati incident also brings back memories of a similar episode in Tamil Nadu in 2018. When English teacher G Bhagawan was transferred from the Government High School in Veliagaram in Thiruvallur district, his students reportedly broke down in tears and protested against the move.Bhagawan taught students from Classes 6 to 10. Photos and videos of students crying and trying to stop him from leaving went viral at the time. The teacher himself was reportedly in tears as his students pleaded with him to stay. The emotional response eventually prompted officials to temporarily halt his transfer.
Children need trusted adults beyond their parents

One of the most important things parents can give their children is a network of safe, trustworthy adults. That can include grandparents, coaches, relatives and teachers. A child may not tell their parents everything. Sometimes, they may find it easier to speak to a teacher who sees them every day in a different setting.That does not make the parent-child relationship weaker. It gives the child another source of guidance and support. The Amravati students’ protest is a striking example of what can happen when that trust runs deep. The students have already made their feelings known, whether the teacher will eventually stay or go to another school. They didn’t want to lose a teacher who had become important to them.
