Mobile lab brings chemistry experiments to schoolchildren

Nagpur: Chemistry enthusiast Sagar is taking his mobile laboratory to schools to make science engaging and accessible for young learners. An applied physics student with a keen interest in chemical sciences, Sagar has spent nearly a decade collecting, purifying, and studying elements. His journey began at age 21 as a hobby of collecting everyday chemical compounds. What started as a personal interest grew into a serious scientific pursuit as he studied the composition of different substances and explored ways to preserve elements in their purest forms.Over the years, Sagar built a collection of 40 distinct chemical elements in purified forms. Now, he aims to share this experience with school students through a mobile laboratory. The initiative allows students to witness live demonstrations and perform basic experiments, moving them beyond textbook learning to practical experience.Sagar believes early exposure to hands-on experiments fosters curiosity and deepens scientific understanding. He aims to make chemistry less theoretical by encouraging students to explore through observation and experimentation.Additionally, Sagar is developing tactile and sensory-based learning methods for students with visual impairments so they can experience chemistry through hands-on activities. He hopes to expand the project to more schools, encouraging young minds to view science as something to explore beyond the classroom.
