A Pakistan air force group captain was shot dead after intervening to rescue a woman from an alleged abduction attempt in Islamabad, according to Pakistan’s Samaa TV.The incident took place at Shaheen Chowk, within the jurisdiction of the Margalla Police Station. The deceased officer, identified as Group Captain Asim Tariq, was reportedly passing through Ninth Avenue when he saw a motorcyclist allegedly trying to force a woman onto his motorcycle.According to Samaa TV, Group Captain Tariq stepped in to stop the attack, giving the woman enough time to escape to the other side of the road. During the confrontation, the suspect, identified as Saad, allegedly abused the officer before opening fire. The officer sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, while the attacker fled.Police have launched an investigation and are collecting evidence. Citing the woman’s statement, Samaa TV reported that the suspect was her colleague, who had offered to take her to work but allegedly diverted the route in an attempt to take her elsewhere. She resisted, prompting the officer to intervene before the situation escalated further.Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has sought an urgent report from the Islamabad police chief and directed authorities to arrest the suspect at the earliest.
