'People sitting abroad ... ': BJP chief's veiled attack at CJP protest over 'dragging youth into negative politics'

NEW DELHI: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday took a veiled swipe at the CJP protest, saying that “some people sitting abroad think they can dictate the direction of India’s youth,” further alleging that it is pushing them into “negative politics. Addressing an Intellectuals Meet in Ranchi, Nabin said, “Today’s youth wants to work for the construction of the nation, wants to work to secure their future,” according to a post from the BJP’s official X account.“But some people have labeled this country’s youth as anti-establishment. To those who want to drag this country’s youth into negative politics, I warn them that India’s youth will engage in positive politics,” he said.“Some people, sitting abroad, think that they will dictate the direction to India’s youth,” he added. The BJP chief further said that the party will oppose such moves through democratic means, adding that “we will oppose on the basis of democracy, but we will not allow the standards of democracy to be destroyed.”“India’s youth will not move forward as puppets in the fists of a few people,” he noted.Nabin also highlighted the importance of farmers in India’s development, saying, “I acknowledge that the biggest contribution to this country and to the progress of this country comes from our farmers. They say that if the farmer is happy, then there is prosperity in the home, and harmony too.”“Our government has a very clear plan towards farmers. We do not want to keep farmers merely as beneficiaries,” he said, adding that the government aims to improve agricultural outcomes and double farmers’ income. His remarks came during a two-day organisational visit to Jharkhand, his first to the state after becoming BJP national president. During the visit, he participated in party meetings and outreach programmes aimed at strengthening the organisation ahead of upcoming elections.Earlier in the day, Nabin chaired a meeting of BJP MPs and MLAs at the state party office in Ranchi after arriving at the airport, where he was accorded a grand welcome. He also paid tribute to tribal icon Birsa Munda at Birsa Chowk, saying, “Visiting Jharkhand is coming home for me.”On the second day of his visit, he is scheduled to travel to Bokaro Steel City and later meet party workers and leaders at multiple locations, including the residence of State BJP President Aditya Sahu. His visit comes ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand, with nominations due by June 8 and polling scheduled for June 18.
