Railway Protection Force arrests 10 in Kargi Road train derailment
The accused in RPF custody

RAIPUR: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested 10 people within 10 hours in connection with the derailment of a goods train at Kargi Road railway station, officials said on Monday.Three wagons of an empty N-Box-914 rake derailed on line number 3 at platform number 2 around 2.20pm on July 13. Preliminary findings indicated the derailment was triggered after a JCB machine bucket was left on the track.Investigators found that private contractor Pawan Nayak, a resident of Karpa in Anuppur district, had ordered the JCB bucket from Indore. The equipment was transported to Kargi Road in the A-1 coach of train no. 18233 Indore–Bilaspur Narmada Express through a coach attendant. After it was unloaded at platform number 2, five to six labourers began moving it towards platform number 1, but allegedly abandoned the heavy bucket on the track and fled when a goods train approached, leading to the derailment. After the incident, the RPF scanned CCTV footage from stations between Bilaspur and Indore, which showed the JCB bucket being loaded into the A-1 coach at Indore railway station. The coach attendant was subsequently detained at Bilaspur for questioning, officials said.Based on the interrogation, investigators identified those involved in loading and unloading the bucket and collected their mobile numbers. Using mobile phone locations and technical evidence, the Uslapur RPF post arrested 10 people under provisions of the Railways Act.Those arrested were identified as Kamlesh Tekam alias Munna (25), Narhar Singh alias Pintu (35), Deva Singh alias Munna (38), Buddhu Singh (49), Chhatrapati Maravi (32), Lokesh Mandavi (19), Anurag Maravi (31), Abhishek Yadav (21), Mohammad Shamir (24), the coach attendant, and Amit Yadav (23). Officials said Abhishek Yadav had placed the order for the JCB bucket. The main accused, Pawan Nayak, is on the run. The RPF said raids are being conducted to arrest him.
