Navi Mumbai: In a fatal road accident, two Uran youths lost their lives at around 3 am on Monday. A suspected head-on collision between two motorcycles was reported opposite Harishchandra Gawand Garden on the Uran-Mora Road. One of the two-wheelers was moving towards Uran township, while the other was moving towards Mora village. The Uran police are also investigating the involvement of any other vehicle in the mishap in the absence of eyewitnesses.A Bori village resident, Mahesh Chandekar, 35, was riding his motorcycle towards Uran. A Nagaon resident, Nikhil Kukade, 38, was riding his Bullet towards Mora. However, their rash and negligent driving led to the head-on collision. They fell a bit away in the crash impact and sustained grievous injuries to their heads and other body parts.It is learnt that the two were killed on the spot by the time police reached the spot and rushed the duo to the govt rural hospital in Uran. One Vaibhav Kadu has filed a complaint with the Uran police.The local residents have expressed concern over the deaths of the two youths. They have demanded the erection of a speedbreaker as motorists use the road stretch as if it were a highway, to prevent repeated accidents.A resident of Uran, Santosh Pawar, said, “Some opposed the erection of a speedbreaker at the spot earlier. Political pressure is exerted on the issue. The accident spot is away from the CCTV limit. The two were in private jobs.”A fatal motor accident case has been filed, but further investigation is on by the Uran police.
