Lucknow: The second and concluding day of Cultural Karwaan 2026, organised by Jashn-e-Adab at Vishweshwarya Auditorium on Monday, turned into an enchanting celebration of India’s rich musical and literary traditions, leaving the audience spellbound with a series of memorable performances.The evening reached a high point with a mesmerising performance by Padma Bhushan Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Wielding the Mohan Veena, the maestro took listeners on a soulful musical journey with his Grammy Award-winning composition ‘A Meeting By The River’, besides ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Meghdootam’. The auditorium resonated with appreciative applause as Bhatt’s evocative notes created an almost magical atmosphere.The classical singing segment saw Padma Bhushan Pandit Sajan Mishra take the stage with his son, Pandit Swaransh Mishra. Their rendition of ‘Kashi Ke Sevaiyya’, ‘Om Namah Shivay’, ‘Aye Ho Tripurarari’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ captivated music lovers. “The soulful singing transported me to another world,” said visitor Sudeep Rawat.Flutist Pt Ronu Mazumdar further enchanted the audience with his mellifluous flute, presenting ‘Vande Mataram’, the popular film song ‘Kuch Na Kaho’ and ‘Dil-e-Nadan’, adding another rich layer to the musical evening.Adding a lighter touch to the programme, Padma Shri Surendra Mishra’s humour-filled and satirical presentation, ‘Hasna Mana Hai’, had the audience in splits. His poems, jokes on marriage, anecdotes from college life and affectionate reflections on his love for Lucknow added warmth and wit to the cultural celebration.
