Among the Malayalam releases, Naslen starrer Malayalam film ‘Mollywood Times’ presents a psychological dark comedy centred on an aspiring filmmaker determined to leave his mark on the horror genre.The story follows Vineeth Madhavan, portrayed by Naslen, whose dream of becoming Malayalam cinema’s greatest horror filmmaker slowly turns into an unhealthy obsession. As he navigates the challenges of the film industry, personal ambition and professional setbacks begin to reshape his outlook. The film blends humour with psychological drama while exploring the price of chasing success.
Karakkam
Malayalam cinema’s first musical horror comedy, ‘Karakkam’, arrives with a unique blend of comedy, music and supernatural elements. The film revolves around two youngsters whose New Year’s Eve prank unexpectedly unleashes a group of unusual spirits. What starts as harmless fun soon transforms into a series of strange paranormal incidents. The movie has Sreenath Bhasi in the lead and it received mixed reviews from the audiences when it hit the big screens.
Enola Holmes returns
Netflix expands its catalogue this week with two notable releases led by familiar faces. ‘Enola Holmes 3’ sees Millie Bobby Brown return as the sharp-witted young detective. This time, Enola travels to Malta after discovering that her brother Sherlock Holmes has been kidnapped. While racing against time to solve the mystery, she also prepares for her upcoming marriage to Lord Tewkesbury. Henry Cavill reprises his role as Sherlock Holmes, while Helena Bonham Carter returns as Eudoria Holmes. Himesh Patel joins the franchise as Dr. John Watson.
Super Subbu
Also streaming on Netflix is Super Subbu, starring Sundeep Kishan. The comedy follows a city-bred man who unexpectedly finds himself teaching sex education in a rural village despite having little understanding of the subject himself. As awkward situations pile up, he must also deal with family expectations and his complicated personal life. Mithila Palkar, Murali Sharma and Brahmanandam play key roles in the film.
Hangman
After spending several years without a release, Brahmaji’s Telugu mystery crime thriller Hangman is finally set to reach audiences through Sun NXT on July 3. Instead of a theatrical release, the film will make its debut directly on the streaming platform. The story examines themes of justice, corruption, capital punishment and morality through the life of an executioner. Its promotional tagline reads, “Justice has a price. Truth has a deadline.”Brahmaji plays the central character Sivayya, while Vinay Nallakadi appears as Mukesh. The supporting cast includes Bunny Abiran and Rama Rao Jadhav as Constable Naidu.
