Cricket West Indies (CWI) has named a 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on Monday. The squad sees the return of Left-handed batter Shimron Hetmyer and fast-bowler Alzarri Joseph.Hetmyer, who has been reintegrated into the ODI setup as part of CWI’s strategic build-up towards the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, will join the squad ahead of the third and final match of the series. While Joseph, the right-arm quick has been out of action since July 2025 due to a back injury and is in line to play his first international cricket since Australia toured the Caribbean last year. Spinner Gudakesh Motie, who missed the tour of New Zealand in November, also finds his way back into the squad.The three ODIs — scheduled for June 3, 6, and 8 at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica — mark the beginning of a crucial phase in West Indies’s campaign for automatic qualification to the 2027 World Cup.Skipper Shai Hope will lead the side as they look to extend an impressive unbeaten home ODI series run to five consecutive victories. Their last home series triumph came against Pakistan in August 2025.Head Coach Daren Sammy says the team’s strong recent form at home has boosted confidence ahead of the series against a formidable opponent.“Sri Lanka are a disciplined and skilful ODI unit, especially in conditions that demand patience and smart cricket. For us, this series is about setting the standard, intensity in the field, clarity with the bat, and consistency with the ball.
