The focus of the programme was a spirited debate on the motion, Roga Na Hote Parle Jibon Britha (If One Cannot Be Slim, Life Is Futile). Doctors Kunal Sarkar, Sabyasachi Mitra, Purnendu Roy and Satarupa, along with Swastika Dutta, Rupankar and Samragnee Bhattacharya, exchanged views on obesity, health, self-image and body positivity. While medical experts stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy weight for longevity and overall well-being, those opposing the motion argued that happiness, success and personal worth cannot be defined by body size alone.Swastika argued that happiness and success cannot be measured by body weight alone, stressing that qualities such as courage, kindness and perseverance are what truly define an individual. Samragnee spoke about the prejudice faced by overweight individuals, asserting that a person’s identity is shaped by their purpose and contributions, not their body size. The audience eventually voted against the motion, reinforcing the message that wellness extends beyond physical appearance and encompasses mental, emotional and social well-being.As the celebration had begun with a message of spiritual wellness through music, it concluded in the same spirit with a soulful hymn by Shubhamastu, bringing the evening to a serene and meaningful close.
