Bhopal: The dreams of at least three students were put on hold Sunday when they were barred from writing the re-NEET exam in Bhopal for arriving minutes past the deadline. At Subhash Excellence School, a girl reached a few minutes late after going to the wrong centre. Her father told officials they had confused Sarojini Naidu School with Sarojini Naidu College, which are located next to each other. “We got confused. Names are so similar,” he said, pleading with the magistrate in tears. She was still not allowed inside. At the same centre, Amir Qadri arrived late with his nephew, who had a bandaged head injury from a road accident. Qadri explained the emergency, but staff refused entry.Outside Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, the gate closed exactly on time. A candidate standing outside kept requesting entry but was turned away as per rules. “A moment’s delay shouldn’t decide a future,” a relative said, voice breaking. Around 1.18 lakh candidates from Madhya Pradesh were to appear at 283 centres, including 32 in Bhopal and 57 in Indore. Reporting time was 11:00 am and entry closed at 1:30 pm. The exam began at 2:00 pm.
