T’puram: Health minister K Muraleedharan assured that immediate steps will be taken to restore deteriorating condition of National Games Shooting Range at Vattiyoorkavu. Speaking at the valedictory function of the fifth District Shooting Championship organized by Thiruvananthapuram district rifle association, the minister said he would visit the facility along with the sports minister to assess the situation and initiate follow-up measures.Muraleedharan said the shooting range would be upgraded into a modern training centre capable of producing shooters of international standards. He also distributed medals and certificates to the winners of the district championship held at the venue.The two-day competition, conducted over the weekend, attracted 176 participants across various events. Of them, 128 shooters qualified for the state-level shooting championship.Among those present were Kerala Olympic Association vice-president S N Raghuchandran Nair, Thiruvananthapuram Olympic Association district secretary Viju Varma, District Rifle Association vice-president George Sebastian, secretary Manoj T, treasurer Vinod and executive committee member Narayanan.
